The Practice of Ally Work
The practice of ally work was developed by Dr. Jeffrey Raff in the direct lineage of Carl Jung and Marie Louise von Franz. Raff studied at the Jung Institute in Zurich with Marie Louise von Franz, Jung’s colleague and spiritual successor. Dr. Raff is the author of Jung and the Alchemical Imagination, Healing the Wounded God, The Wedding of Sophia, and The Practice of Ally Work.
Ally work is a contemplative practice of active imagination developed by Dr. Jeffrey Raff drawing on Jungian, alchemical, Sophianic, and Sufi traditions. Raff names the ally as one's “divine partner” and “a face of God that is unique to each human being,” relating the concept to Ibn 'Arabi’s understanding as elaborated by William Chittick and Henry Corbin.
At AllyWork.org, we offer community-based practice to support people in developing the practice of ally work. We offer group sessions online, in-person workshops, and individual consultations. Dr. Raff has offered his encouragement in our efforts to share and develop ally work.
